Custom Silhouette Portraits
I’m so excited to illustrate your child’s beautiful silhouette!
Perfect Christmas gift for parents, grandparents, and yourself! You’ll enjoy these works of art everyday for years to come!
After purchasing your silhouette package, you’ll need to complete the following steps and instructions to get your artwork underway.
1. Take a side profile photo of your child against a solid wall or background. (A door usually works great for this!) If you have an iPhone with zoom, take the photo with 2x or 2.5x zoom. This setting gets the shape of your child’s head exactly as it is without giving a rounded effect….just trust me!
2. Step back so you can get the whole head in the photo and a little ways down the shoulder/arm.
3. Make sure the child is facing perfectly to the side, standing up straight, with the chin straight out. DO NOT take the photo with the child looking down at all…this makes the neck weird.
4. Do not take the photo from above or below….you should be shooting directly aimed at the side of the head as if a line will connect horizontally from the lens to the ear area.
5. Expression. Do your best to have the child post with a relaxed face with the lips closed and not smiling. Just a natural, relaxed face. You might have to loosen them up a little if they think to hard.
6. Hair. What I see in the photo is all I have to go off of, so make sure the hair is how you would like it. I don’t draw each wisp of hair, but the overall shape/lines. For a girl, a half up-do, ponytail, or bun looks best!
7. Take several photos so you can choose which works best. And you are welcome to send more than one if you are unsure.
8. If you would like your child’s name and age added at the bottom of the silhouette, make sure to type the name and age in the email with each picture. If you are ordering for multiple children, I’ll need to make sure I know which picture goes with which name.
If you follow these steps your photo should be just fine! If I feel like I need something different I’ll email and let you know.
Your silhouette will be emailed by November 23rd!
If you also order a physical 8x10 print to be shipped, those will ship out just after Thanksgiving.
