Welcome to the 2024 CBC Bible Journaling Challenge!

I am soooo excited to be back with another Bible Journaling challenge! Every year gets better and better as we connect through the Word and grow on such a deep level. I get to watch you get brave and try new things as some of you start Bible journaling for the first time! Others may stretch themselves and learn/do something they’ve never done before in their Bibles, it’s just a blessing to do it all together! šŸ“– ā¤ļø

Ā

So if you’ve joined us before, welcome back for round 4!!!

Ā

For our new friends, here’s a little about it…..

Ā

Have you ever doodled in your Bible? Or do you enjoy taking notes or writing things in the margins of your Bible? Maybe you’ve never even thought about it as an actual ā€œthingā€?

Ā

Well, I’m here to tell you it’s TOTALLY a thing, and not only that, it’s such a peaceful, enjoyable, and purposeful practice that will change you over the next 40 days (and probably the rest of your life!).šŸ˜

Ā

I’ve been drawing and coloring in my Bibles since I was a little kid, before it was a ā€œthingā€, and back when folks in church would give you the side-eye for marking up your Bible. (It obviously didn’t stop me haha!)

Ā

Here’s what I want you to know: When I was a child and wrote quotes and verses and doodles all in my Bible, I wasn’t thinking about what anyone would think of my ā€œdoodlesā€. I wasn’t concerned with it looking a certain way, and honestly didn’t give it much thought at all. I used whatever pen, marker, crayons, or stickers I had on hand.

Ā

During this challenge I want you to lose the fear of ā€œmessing upā€ your Bible. It won’t happen. Everything you do is full of purpose and special for that season, and that is GREAT. Guess what? I don’t love all the pages I’ve done in my Bible, but I’m equally proud of each entry. I know that one day my kids are gonna have this Bible of mine, this special heirloom passed down through the generations....and that gives me chills and somehow lessens the burden of it being perfect. I just want it to be a reflection of me and what God is saying in those moments.ā¤ļø

Ā

So, what IS Bible journaling?

Ā

It is simply putting words, doodles, or any writings in your Bible. Some people just use the margins and overlap the scripture in their Bibles, and some (like I) have a Bible made for journaling with columns on the sides or even full blank pages between each page. (My main Bible is the leather ESV Interleaved Journaling Bible). You can use pens, pencils, crayons, markers, watercolors, stickers...you name it! šŸŽØ šŸ–ļø āœšŸ¼āœļø

Ā

How do I get started?

Ā

Never feel like you have to have ALL the things to start this creative practice! Like I said above, I started with what I had as a child....just because. It’s that simple! For a challenge like this though, I do recommend starting with a Bible that you are gonna want to stick with, knowing that you’ll have 40 pages of special creativity inside it! Then, if you are nervous to start, I recommend using fun stickers, prints, and paper pieces from CBC to get you started! Stick them in your Bible, write a scripture from that page on or around the sticker/card, and just get your feet wet ā€œplayingā€ in your Bible! Then try some markers, colored pencils, and watercolors.....you will LOVE this....I know it!šŸ‘šŸ¼šŸ‘šŸ¼šŸ‘šŸ¼

About the CBC Bible Journaling Challenge:

Ā

The challenge starts on February 14th, 2024 and ends March 28th, 2024. We are doing this for the 40 days of Lent! 40 days of growing, learning something new, starting an enjoyable practice just for you, and finding that you had more in you than you realized. Getting God’s Word planted so deep in your soul that you wake up thinking of Him, and drift off to sleep with His Words still speaking life over you. šŸ˜šŸ“–šŸ˜“ā¤ļø

Ā

If you’ve struggled at all with unrest or stress in the last year or more, I pray this new habit is balm for your weary soul and that it helps ignite passion deep in your heart!ā¤ļø

Ā

You’ll draw, write, collage, or whatever you feel in your Bible.

Ā

We are doing this ā€œfree formā€ this year, meaning we aren’t following specific scriptures. I want you to be able to practice enjoying the process and journaling wherever you feel led each day!

Ā

I’ll be going live on instagram one night each week (will announce what night soon!) and we can journal together! I’ll also be sharing lots of reels of the process too!

Ā

I can’t wait to meet you!!!
